India's domestic air passenger traffic up 18%, IndiGo records highest market share

India's domestic air passenger traffic in June 2018 rose 18.36 percent to 113.25 lakhs in June last year. During the January-June period, the domestic airlines carried 684 lakhs passengers, up 22 percent from the same period, in the previous year, according to the data released by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The data disclosed that low-cost carrier SpiceJet had the highest passenger load factor (PLF), a measure of capacity utilisation of the airline, at 94.8 percent during June. SpiceJet was followed by Go Air with a PLF of 88.3 percent, IndiGo at 88.3 percent.
